About Brad

Singer. Songwriter. Storyteller.

Brad Stuart is a Michigan native and Nashville songwriter known for crafting stories into song — with a voice as big and gravelly as the truth he sings about. He draws from influences ranging from the songwriter greats like John Prine, Bob Dylan, Jackson Browne, and Jason Isbell. With the warmth of his signature rasp and a knack for authentic storytelling, Brad has a distinctive way of connecting with his audience, somewhere between laughter and tears.

Brad’s early years in music included playing in the hard rock band Altered Paradigm, where he cut his teeth as a performer, writer, and collaborator. He went on to work both on stage and in the studio — recording on Just Like That by Uncle Kracker, collaborating with Tim Diaz in Two Lane Bridge, and serving as musician, vocalist, and music director for The Hymns Project. Brad has also contributed to many other artists’ works across several different genres along the way.

Over the years, Brad has toured extensively across North America and Europe, playing everything from large festivals to small listening rooms like the legendary Bluebird Cafe in Nashville, where he performs regularly. Since branching out into his solo career, Brad has performed several headlining shows around the world as well as providing direct support on shows with James Otto, Dustin Lynch, Sanctus Real, and several others.  No matter the setting, his focus is always on creating authentic, meaningful connections with his audience.

Brad teamed up with Grammy Award-winning producer Randy Kohrs to create a sound that blends the Americana heart of Nashville with the grit and soul of his Motown roots. Their first studio collaboration was 33 Turns & A Needle, released on Reakyr Records in January 2024. Together, Brad and Randy assembled an all-star lineup including Brent Mason, Wil Houchens, James Mitchell, and several other of Nashville’s and Detroit’s greatest musicians. The album features standout singles including the title track 33 Turns & A Needle, This Side of Heaven, It Goes By (featuring Brad’s grandfather Manuel Rey), and I’ll Fly Away (featuring his daughter Riley Stuart). The album delivers songs that reflect the hardships of life, his passion for his family, and his deep connection to his faith.

In addition to the music itself, Brad’s youngest daughter, born Deaf, has been the driving force behind his dedication to music accessibility. To ensure she — and others in the Deaf community — can experience his songs, his wife, Elizabeth, performs them in American Sign Language (ASL) for his music videos and many of his live performances.

Two decades in, Brad remains committed to touring, writing, recording, and collaborating. Fueled by his passion to connect with his ever-growing fanbase, he’s pouring the coals to shaping his legacy and staying true to who he is at his core — Singer. Songwriter. Storyteller.
